Plan Ahead!

IMLA's 2021 Mid-Year Seminarhttps://imla.org/seminars/, April 23-26, 2021 in Washington, DC!
IMLA's 86th Annual Conferencehttps://imla.org/annual-conference/, Sept. 29-Oct. 3, 2021 in Minneapolis, MN!

  1. FYI please see White House documents attached. The 10-day calendar is especially helpful!

  2. Also, please see the attached letter sent yesterday by 17 freshman Republican members to Biden about reaching across the aisle. May be especially helpful in all of our bipartisan efforts, including caucus and cosponsorship. https://www.npr.org/sections/inauguration-day-live-updates/2021/01/20/958759961/17-house-gop-freshmen-write-to-biden-about-working-together

  3. Word is that Mark Mazur has been appointed interim Tax Policy point person. Many of us may remember him from a few years ago - good guy. Just FYI for all. Good to have him and Aruna over there.

Tax Policy Center Director Mark Mazur is temporarily heading back to the Treasury Department to be its point person on taxes.

Mazur will fill in as deputy assistant secretary for tax policy until the administration's nominee for the more senior position - assistant secretary for tax policy - is confirmed by the Senate, the think tank announced Thursday. President Joe Biden has not named his choice for that job, though Washington's tax world has been awash in speculation.

The move is a bit of reprise for Mazur who served in a similar role during the Obama administration before heading over to the Tax Policy Center. It comes as the Senate prepares to confirm Janet Yellen as head of the department.
