Dear IMLA Elected Attorneys Group- This is a follow up to last Friday's notice about today's 1PM Eastern call with Ann Davison, Seattle City Attorney, regarding the Hyundai/Kia litigation she recently instituted. In late January 2023, the City of Seattle filed a complaint in federal court against Kia and Hyundai for failing to install anti-theft technology in some of their cars, which the City believes has contributed to an exponential increase of those vehicle thefts in Seattle, resulting in crime, expenditure of law enforcement resources and significant other costs to the City. (City of Seattle v. Hyundai of America, Inc., no. 23-cv-00098 (W.D. Wa. Jan. 23, 2023). We are aware that other municipalities are experiencing the same problems, and are very pleased that Ann Davison, Seattle City Attorney-who is leading Seattle's litigation against Hyundai/Kia-will be speaking to us about the litigation at 1 PM Eastern / 10 AM Pacific today, February 22, 2023.
