Massachusetts’s Department of Public Health issued Guidance on March 31st pursuant to the Governor’s Order prohibiting non-essential businesses and gathering or more than 10 people. The Guidance declares that short-term rentals, and other types of lodging, are non-essential and should be closed unless they are housing essential workers or people in need of housing as a result of COVID-19. Subject: [Disasterrelief] Short term rental question from member

Question for listserv:  Have any jurisdictions (other than Ocean City, NJ) taken steps to suspend the use of properties for short-term rentals?  If so, what steps were taken?  If your jurisdiction has executed HOT collection agreements with any of the online hosting platforms (e.g., Airbnb, vrbo/HomeAway, etc.), was any pushback received?
