Dear IMLA Disaster Relief Working Group: Monroe County recently received new FEMA draft flood zone maps. Not surprisingly, there is concern regarding the new maps and the potential need to appeal the eventual preliminary maps when they arrive. The county is looking for recommendations from other communities which have been through this process and challenged at least some of the maps. They are especially interested in speaking to outside counsel with experience in appealing the maps.
