DOL issued a Field Bulletin late yesterday clarifying that this 30-day period runs 30 days from the law's enactment (March 18th) and not 30 days from the law's effective date (April 1st). Click below for a copy of the bulletin. The bulletin explains that the Department will not bring enforcement actions against any public or private employer for violations of the Act occurring within 30 days of the enactment of the FFCRA, i.e. March 18 through April 17, 2020, provided that the employer has made reasonable, good faith efforts to comply with the Act. The bulletin explains how an employer who has violated the FFCRA will be found to have acted  "reasonably" and "in good faith" for the purposes of this non-enforcement period.

To qualify requires full restitution to the employee and some additional written assurance from employer to DOL.  So, it's not a wholesale walk.
