Good morning!

I have a question for the sports law working group. Can you circulate this to the group?

Thank you very much,

Allison

Proposed email:

I am reaching out on behalf of Salt Lake City. A few of you have already received emails from our City Attorney directly, and thank you for your immediate responses. In addition to those direct emails, I thought it would be helpful to open the questions to the larger group.

The news was recently made public that an NHL team is coming to Salt Lake City, and intends to start playing in October at our existing downtown arena which also hosts our NBA team.

We are on a tight timeframe for negotiations with the teams’ owner related to public funding to develop a sports and entertainment district around the arena and also to remodel the existing arena to accommodate NBA and NHL.

If any of you have worked on similar projects with other teams, would any of you have a finalized community benefits agreement that you executed with the team that you could share? Do you have any best practices/things to think about in these types of negotiations?  Would you have time to talk about your experiences?

As always, thank you for all of your help!
