We are advising several airports regarding TSA-NA-23-02, the Aviation Worker Screening National Amendment. Just yesterday, the TSA announced it will grant a 12-month grace period to provide airports with additional time to come into compliance with the National Amendment. There is broad industry opposition to the National Amendment and, during this grace period, several airports and airport industry groups intend to continue engaging Congress and the TSA in an effort to seek recission or modification of the National Amendment. Several airports have also filed Petitions for Reconsideration of the National Amendment, which is ordinarily required to stay the effective date. However, an airport need not have filed a Petition for Reconsideration to obtain the benefit of this 12-month grace period.
